“Thoroughly Exmoor” Socks — Welly Socks and Shooting Hose

Exmoor is world-renowned for its high bird shoots, but whether you are shooting pheasant there, partridge in Norfolk, grouse in North Yorkshire, or just having a walked-up day with your friends, these socks are for you, grown on Exmoor by Exmoor Horn sheep. And ladies, here are colourful socks to go with your snazzy wellies!

Real wool socks are a treat for your feet. They are warm, but also, paradoxically, cool, because wool adapts to the wearer.

So, for country wear or as a fashion item, our socks will keep your feet and legs comfortable whilst you are walking the dog or digging the garden, and warm whilst you are waiting patiently on peg! They come in the style of shooting hose, that is, with a long leg and deep turnover cuff. Full length socks will cosset your legs, so take a tip from centuries of outdoor experience……
The yarn for the socks has an added 15% nylon for durability.

For available sizes, please see each individual sock style.
All sizes have the traditional, classic, reasonably wide rib on the leg, reinforced toe and heel in a contrast colour, and a patterned turnover top, also in the same contrast colour. They are not elasticated in any way, so depending on how you wear your socks, you may want an elastic or traditional tie garter.

From autumn 2016, “small” socks will be available in two different styles – “ladies’ small” and “men’s small”. The ladies’ version will have a narrower rib (more flattering for female legs) and a slightly narrower foot, though the foot length will remain the same.

Every pair of socks sold generates a 10p donation to “CareMoor for Exmoor”. This is Exmoor National Park Authority’s donation scheme which invites contributions to the upkeep of our beautiful landscape. Funds raised go directly towards important conservation and access work which would otherwise not get funded.
