The Dulverton Sock – Yellow with red cuff

£25.00

Lovely knee-length woollen socks ideal for country pursuits.

Gorse grows freely on heathland wherever the drainage is better. You can find it in flower any month of the year, even December. On a warm day it has the most delicious coconut smell, and on a quiet sunny day, you will be able to hear the seed pods pop.

There are many pink picture-postcard cottages in north Exmoor, so you may wonder “why pink”? Well, the answer lies in the soil, which is red. Traditionally, this soil colour blended with  the whitewashed cob walls, giving a pink, which is characteristic to the area. You can even sometimes identify where a sheep has come from by the tinge in the fleece!

Using the colour of yellow gorse alongside the red, we have made a colour combination which is a gamekeepers’ favourite.

Product Description

These socks suit a wide variety of purposes, espcially if you are a welly-wearer. So whether you are gardening, tramping across boggy moorland, or enjoying country pursuits, these will suit you very well.

Real wool is comfortable, absorbs moisture, and is an excellent odour-suppressor.

The sock yarn is 60% Exmoor Horn wool, 25% Exmoor Blueface, 15% nylon for durability. It has been specially treated to be machine washable, but please remember to use only wool-friendly detergents – biological detergents or those including bleach will seriously damage wool!

The structure of the sock is such that the heel and toe sections are reinforced.
